FAQ

Where do you provide services?

In-person sessions can be scheduled at an agreed-upon location. Virtual sessions can be scheduled anywhere you have access to a computer, webcam, and reliable internet!

Who will provide the intervention?

Our services are provided by a certified or licensed professional with extensive training in the development of language and literacy skills and evidence-based practices. Our interventionists completed specific literacy coursework, passed an exam, and have additional fellowship or practicum experience.

How do I know if my child struggles with reading?

In order to be effective readers, children must be proficient in many different language and literacy skills. If your child has difficulty with naming their letters, producing letter sounds, blending sounds, reading words with multiple syllables, reading accurately and evenly, or understanding what they have read, they may be struggling with age-appropriate reading skills.

How do I know if my child struggles with writing?

Does your child have difficulty organizing and adequately expressing thoughts in writing, difficulty constructing grammatically correct sentences, difficulty using writing conventions (e.g capitalization and punctuation, or difficulty with age-appropriate spelling when writing? If so, your child may need additional writing support.

How do I know if my child struggles with spelling?

Reading, spelling and writing disorders often overlap. Children who struggle with spelling may have difficulty matching letters they see to sounds they hear, difficulty understanding that letters can produce different sounds (letter "c" is different in CAT vs ICE),  or difficulty recalling strategies and patterns for irregularly spelled words or "sight" words. If your child is reversing letters within words past 3rd grade, they may need additional literacy support.

Do you accept health insurance?

At this time, we do not accept health insurance. We have chosen to spend our time and resources providing the most beneficial services to our clients without worrying about them being "covered" by difficult insurance companies. We do accept cash, personal checks, and VENMO.

How long and frequent are sessions?

Our sessions are always tailored to the unique needs of each client. Typically, sessions are 30- 60 minutes and recommended 2-4 times per week depending on severity and need.

Is there anything I should bring to the first visit?

If you have any school-based or private educational or psychological evaluations, please bring them. If your child has an individualized educational plan (IEP) or receives any outpatient services, please bring that information. If you have any additional documentation you feel would be helpful for our sessions, feel free to bring that, as well!
